Not included in the calculation:

  • orders with statuses “New”, “In Progress”, “Deferred”, “Ready”, “Closed Unsuccessfully”;
  • unpaid sales.

Indicators:

  • Sales — number of sales of products in the category.
  • Revenue — total amount for the product considering discount and quantity.
  • Cost — total cost of goods for all items.
  • Discount — total discount amount on products in the category.
  • Markup — profit ÷ cost × 100%.
  • Profit — difference between revenue and cost.

Take the category “Screen Protectors”. During the period, there were two sales:

  1. In shop: price $200, discount $20, cost $60, quantity 2 pcs. Sale paid.
  2. In order: price $100, no discount, cost $40, quantity 2 pcs. Order closed and paid.

Calculate separately:

  • Sale

    Revenue — (200 – 20) × 2 = $360

    Cost — 60 × 2 = $120

    Profit — 360 – 120 = $240

  • Order

    Revenue — (100 – 0) × 2 = $200

    Cost — 40 × 2 = $80

    Profit — 200 – 80 = $120

Total for the “Screen Protectors” category:

Total revenue: 360 + 200 = $560

Total cost: 120 + 80 = $200

Total profit: 240 + 120 = $360

Profit for the “Screen Protectors” category for the period: $360
