Domain Connection

A domain is a full-fledged website address that you buy and register in your own name (for example, my-business.com). It inspires more trust, is easy to remember and looks more professional.

If you already have your own domain, enter it in the “Domain” field.

If you don’t have a domain yet, register one with any registrar. If you are not sure where to start, here are a few examples:

  • godaddy.com or namecheap.com

After purchasing the domain, enter it in the “Domain” field (for example, my-business.com) and click “Next”.

The links provided are for informational purposes only and are not advertising

After you enter the domain in HelloClient, the system will show two values:

  • CNAME record — host @ and the record value
  • TXT record — host @ and the record value

These are exactly the values you will use when setting up DNS. You don’t need to choose or come up with these addresses yourself — just copy what the system provided.

  1. Log in to your domain registrar’s account and find the DNS section or “Zone Management”
  2. Create a CNAME record: in the “Value” field, paste the address from the HelloClient table, in the “Name” field enter @ (or leave it empty if the system requires it)
  3. Create a TXT record: in the “Value” field, paste the value from the HelloClient table, in the “Name” field enter @ (or leave it empty if the system requires it)
  4. Click “Save”

After you have entered all the data in the registrar’s account, click the “Start check” button in HelloClient.

During the check, the system will verify all the added records and show their status. Possible statuses:

  • Checking… — wait, the check is in progress.
  • Pending — the records were found, but the domain is not active yet. This is normal: DNS changes can take from one hour up to 72 hours to propagate.
  • Done — the check passed successfully.
  • Error — the records were not found or do not match. Check the data you entered at the registrar and try again. See the “Domain Connection Error Reference” section below.

DNS changes usually take effect within an hour; in rare cases, the process can take up to 72 hours.

As soon as all the DNS records you set receive the “Done” status, the system will automatically move you to the final stage.

Now your domain will be the main address of your website.

If you need to change or remove the domain, follow these steps:

  1. To the right of the domain name, click the icon with three dots (⋮) to open the actions menu
  2. In the drop-down menu, select the desired option:
    • “Change Domain” — to replace the current domain with a new one
    • “Remove Domain” — to completely disconnect it from your website
Domain not found. Make sure the records are correct

Reason: the system did not find the domain in DNS — it may not be registered or delegated.

Solution: check that the domain is registered and that the DNS servers are set up with the registrar.

Someone else has verified ownership of the domain. Choose a different domain

Reason: the domain has already been verified in another account.

Solution: use a different domain.

CNAME is incorrect. Specify the correct CNAME from step 2 and try again

Reason: the CNAME record exists, but its value does not match the required one.

Solution: compare the CNAME record value in your DNS panel with the one on step 2 of the setup and fix it.

CNAME is missing. Add the CNAME from step 2 and try again

Reason: the CNAME record is absent from DNS.

Solution: add the CNAME record with the value from step 2 of the setup.

TXT does not match. Specify the correct TXT from step 2 and try again

Reason: the TXT record exists, but its value does not match the required one.

Solution: compare the TXT record value in your DNS panel with the one on step 2 and fix it.

TXT is missing. Add the TXT from step 2 and try again

Reason: the TXT record is absent from DNS.

Solution: add the TXT record with the value from step 2 of the setup.

Failed to check the domain within the allowed time. Make sure the settings are correct and try again

Reason: the DNS record check exceeded the time limit — either the records are incorrect or the DNS servers are updating slowly.

Solution: check that the CNAME and TXT records are correct, wait (DNS changes can take up to 72 hours to propagate) and click “Try again”.

The domain leads to an incorrect address. Remove all records except those from step 2, make sure the settings are correct and try again

Reason: DNS contains extra records (A, AAAA and others) that conflict with the CNAME record.

Solution: remove all records in DNS except the CNAME and TXT records from step 2 and try again.

Failed to check the domain within the allowed time. Make sure the settings are correct and try again

Reason: the server availability check exceeded the time limit — the website does not respond at the domain address.

Solution: make sure the settings are correct and the hosting is active, then click “Try again”.

Failed to issue the SSL certificate. Try again in a few minutes

Reason: the automatic SSL certificate issuance failed.

Solution: wait a few minutes and click “Try again” — sometimes several attempts are required.

Failed to issue the SSL certificate within the allowed time. Try again in a few minutes

Reason: the SSL certificate issuance took too long and was interrupted.

Solution: wait and try again — the certificate may take longer to issue than usual.

Unexpected error with no details

Reason: a failure occurred on the system side; the cause is unknown, but the details may be specified in the error description.

Solution: click “Try again”. If the error keeps occurring, contact the HelloClient support team.
